This is sort of funny.
A local Chipotle Mexican Grill is testing "vegan burritos". Depending on how they do, they might add them to the regular menu.
The "Garden Blend Burrito" is cooked on the same grill as all the meat products!
Perhaps the need a vegan advisor for their vegan products.
I doubt they would add an extra grill to cook the 5-10% of their burritos that'll be vegan on a different grill. I mean, I don't eat there because their food is crap so I don't really care.
Also, if all vegans think like this, companies are going to be even less likely to add items like this to their menu and all we'll ever have to eat is going to be at vegetarian restaurants. At some point, you have to draw the line.
i think it just depends on WHY you're a vegan, if you do it for health obviously you don't want your food touching meat, if you do it for anything else it shouldn't really matter.
that being said, my initial reaction was that it's funny cause they already have vegan stuff.
Yeah, why do they even grill the burrito? The chipotles I've been to have a thing to heat tortillas, and everything else is added after, then it's wrapped & packaged.
... and yeah. the vegetarian one without sour cream and cheese is vegan. I doubt that an official vegan burrito would be much different.

They have a fajita mix that I'm assuming (hoping?) is grilled. How else would you saute onions and peppers?
SB, have you been to Qdoba? Itis similiar to Chipolte, but better IMO
i'd eat the crap out of a vegan burrito from chipotle... i don't care what it's grilled on.
I thought they already had vegan burritos.
I was excited about the possibility of gardien at more Chipotles. But, that eliminates free guac, and adding it costs like almost 2 dollars. So I'm totally fine with guac and beans and no fake meat. And the whole grill thing is kind of a downer.
Well, in all honesty (at least where I am) it's pretty difficult to get a 100% vegan burrito at Chipotle already, sometimes there will be bits of cheese in the guac or sour cream on the line that gets rubbed onto your tortilla. I think I would still eat it. They might have a section of the grill devoted just to the fajita vegetables and the garden blend thingy.
true about the cheese. i always see it in at least one of the salsas and of course it's almost always the salsa i want. LAME.

I make them get a new guac container out if I see cheese in it, (my daughter is allergic to dairy, so I'm not just a jerk, but that too...)
Oh, are they burritos with fake meat? Because I probably would love that.

Nope, we should go. I have been craving a burrito and I need to cheat on my raw diet again.
I agree with the original post. I think it's the same as eating meat.
I tried the "vegan" burrito recently, but was really irritated that is comes with cheese and sour cream. then they charge you extra. I explained to the manager that if they want to serve a vegan burrito it should come with guac free and no cheese or sour cream! She was really receptive and said she would pass the info along. all that aside it was yummy and spicy!
