A Day In The Life Of.....

...you! Or, to begin with, me. Out of curiosity, and a need to share, and, uh, severe boredom ::) I begin this thread in the hopes that you'll feel like telling us what a normal day is like, for you, from your perspective. It can be about your working days, or your lazy days, or whatever. Go into as much or as little detail as you please. ;)b

I'll go first!

A Day In The Life Of A (Supermarket) Florist

I wake up at 5am (on market days, 6am other days) and spend quarter-to-half an hour pressing the snooze button on my alarm before I get up. I take a shower and turn on the coffee machine. Once it's warmed up, I switch it on, microwaving my vanilla soymilk at the same time, then mix that with the espresso. I toast my pita breads and spread them, then - depending on how little time I have left - I either eat them (while I check on VegWeb) or put them in my bag to eat later. I head down the road on my scooter ideally at 6:15am, but usually more like 6:30am.

I spend the next couple of hours bidding on flowers for my store at the Floramax market - spending hundreds of dollars of the boss's money on flowers... muahahaha. >:D It's great fun. At around 8:30am, the van turns up to pick up the flowers. I load it up and send it off, and hop on my scooter to follow along to the store. We unload the van, then I have my first morning tea break.

I work out how much the flowers are gonna be, and start pricing them and putting them out in the display. I also help customers when they need me, and mop the myriad puddles and drips off the floor. ::) Second morning tea is at 11am, then to lunch for an hour at 1pm. It's very nice to have just two hours to go after that. If all goes well and there isn't a buildup of extra work to do, like putting out potted plants or making bouquets (which I usually do on non-market days), I drive off into the sunshine at 4pm.

After navigating the crazy drivers of my city, I zoom out into the countryside to my house. I greet my parents and my cats (if they're around), and switch on my laptop to check on VegWeb, Facebook, ICHC, some food blogs, and so on and so forth. I make some dinner and watch some DVDs while I eat. Then I take my book, and head to bed.

The end!

I'll play!

I wake up at around 6.30 to crazy dreams (last night it was about being at the movies watching a horror film with George Clooney, who I don't even find attractive, while his 3 imaginary ex wives and a brood of children sat in the row in front of us making snide comments) and pretend for a while that I'm still sleeping and not completely weirded out before my day even starts, then drag myself out of bed.

Shower first or I'm a zombie, then dress in all black, morbid depressing emo goth black.

To the kitchen where I make my lunch - usually leftovers from dinner the night before or a huge salad sandwich ie home made wheat bread packed full of stuff, a muesli bar and a piece of fruit -  drink a cup of earl grey tea and eat home made toast with marmite.

By this time I'm starting to wonder where my time is going, race around with toast hanging out of my mouth to put on my makeup, pack stuff in my bag, put on my shoes and zip out the door by 8am absolute latest, and walk half an hour to work.

I'm bound by confidentiality ethics about my actual work which is why I went into so much detail about my morning, it's all I can talk about haha. I must be a secret agent because all I can say is "I'm going to a "job", doing this "job", oh at a "job" this happened" But basically I work as an interpreter, so I do that for 6 or 7 straight hours by the end of which my brain is falling out and my arms are falling off, I stagger to the office to read prep for a few hours then pack myself up, plug in the loud music on my headphones (current walking to and from work music is Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid) and walk home.

In no real order I make delicious dinner and smother it in sweet chilli sauce which I'm currently addicted to, go see my neighbours for a beer and relax, lie on the couch going bluuuuurgh, check teh internets, watch scrubs and force myself to sleep if it's not too hot.

Turn, smile, shift, repeat!

OMG I'm watching Scrubs right now! Hehee. I just randomly started re-running it today. ;)b

Thanks for playing! Now I'm super curious about yr work. :P

Haha I've been on a huge scrubs binge basically for ages...have worked my way through the dvds from the 1st season, am now on the sixth :P It's good to relax to!
Yea it can be hard not telling anyone about my work, particularly now as I'm just starting out and so much new stuff happens every day...
The jist of it is that I interpret between NZSL and English all day, so a lot of listening, watching, talking and signing :P

Me too!  I'll play!

3 year old wakes me up around 7:30.
Turn on the espresso machine, fix breakfast for the family, while enjoying a cappuccino.
Get my daughter dressed.
Clean bathroom, pick up any toys on the floor, vacuum, and mop.
Ahhh...the house smells clean...smile.
Get started on laundry.
Shower.
Do "homework" with my daughter.  We do a lot of word matching games, crafts, teach her how to write, and read.
Maybe bake some cookies (my daughter loves to get her hands dirty!) or walk to the local grocery store.
Fix lunch for the family.
Nap for the little one.
Watch Buffy reruns.  :)
Little girl wakes up.
Work out.
Cook dinner, and clean up.
Computer time!!!
Around 8:00 I get my daughter ready for bed, and tucked in.
ME time!!!  I usually watch TV, or spend more time on the computer, or get my daughter's lessons ready for the next few days.

This sounds like a fun thread!

Alarm goes off at 5:30. I diligently hit the snooze button until 6:00. Then I crawl out of bed. Weigh self and walk to kitchen to record in journal. Return to bathroom. Push cat off sink. Turn on water to brush teeth. Push cat off sink. Wet toothbrush and apply toothpaste. Push the same cat off the sink. Grumble. Let cat drink from small stream of water while I am brushing. Walk around house. Return to bathroom and push cat off sink. Rinse off toothbrush and turn off water. Floss. Get in shower.

Listen to a different cat puke (he scarfs and barfs). Listen to hubby fuss. Continue to shower.

Get out of shower. Dry off, get dressed, fix makeup.

Pack lunch and breakfast, grab coffee hubby has so lovingly made, try to remember jacket and shoes.

Drive to work. This takes nearly an hour. Sing along with radio, enjoy coffee, try not to fuss at other drivers.

Arrive at work. Eat breakfast while surfing the internet (am not officially on work time yet). Start on paperwork, make more coffee, dig out lessons for the day. Print handouts if needed. Answer phone. Reply to emails.

(Adult) Students arrive. Handle any crisis that may occur. Offer advice on spouses or significant others. Teach lesson on various topic, then allow students to do computer work or job search. Supervise to assure they stay on task. Complete any remaining paperwork, grade tests, answer emails, enter data and such.

Go home! Drive takes (again) about an hour. Sing along with radio, think about dinner plans, mentally work out stresses from day.

Arrive home. Get mail from mailbox and sort out. Change and exercise. Check vegweb and personal email.

Start dinner. Trip over cat. Repeat fifteen or so times.

Hubby arrives home, verbally hash out day, enjoy dinner. Start laundry and do any minor cleaning. Iron.

Relax in front of tv or computer. Pray for Friday. Repeat.

This is fun!!

I'll do a Tuesday or Thursday, since I don't do much by routine any other day.

Alarm goes off at 5:50. I Try to stumble into the kitchen by 6:20. I eat something while watching the news. If Good Morning America come on, my ass is in trouble for being wayyyyy late. I brush my teeth and put on the clothes that I put out the night before. I pack up my computer and any spare books/music bits that are laying around the house. Then I get in my car and leave.

The hardest part of my commute is actually getting out of my driveway most days. It's not because it's long and windy, or covered in gravel. It's only about two carlengths long. I live in a subdivision that hosts through traffic to a high school. High schoolers are rude drivers, and won't pause for a moment to let a resident out of their own effing driveway. On my drive I listen to my CDs, and sometimes my iPod, if I can remember her.

First class is at 8 o'clock, but I have to get there by 7:40 latest to stand a chance of parking. First class is World History. I like history, but the early hour is a bit much. I take notes on my laptop while cruising VW and FB. Sometimes I play tetris. My second class is at 9:30- immediately after history. It's a freshman seminar about how to deal with college life. It's making me more apprehensive about the college process than actually going through it. It's a no-computer class, so there's no cruising involved. Then I have a break. Whew. I go and sit in the cafe of the Social Science building until my 12:30 World Lit class. Ususally I do work that's not done yet. It's normally for government. Not to mention I goof around on the internet. Also, I eat lunch. In this time I stress about my lit class. It's full of juniors and seniors. I'm the only freshman OR sophomore. Then I actually go to Lit. It's another no-computer class, and I'm still full from lunch. Many times, the professor shows us movies, and with my full belly, it's a struggle to stay awake.

After lit, the music portion of my day begins. I have to rush over to the performance center. I unpack my gear (flute, piccolo, music, tuner, pencil) and hurry out on the stage to warm up both instruments. Then I look at my music and realize that I only have piccolo music. I do this every time. I play with the band and embarrass myself in the piccolo solos when we sight read. Yeahhh. After the band clears off the stage and the music people clear off all the chairs and stands, I play with the flute ensemble. I go from playing high register piccolo to the bottom flute part. My mouth is limber. On Thursdays, instead of staying after with the flute ensemble, I go to the music building to wait until 4 when our instructor shows up. I don't like him much.

After flute ensemble, I run to my 5 o'clock government class. I'm nearly always late because of the flute people. Urrrg. I use my computer to take notes and goof off. There is a lot of Tetris played in this class. The professor thinks that he's hilarious, and I do not share his view on this.He always lets us go early, so I'm out of there by 6. I go back to my car in the most crowded and in-demand deck on campus. I get followed by cars that want my parking space. This freaks me out, so I usually take a roundabout way tomy car so that I can't be stalked easily.

In my car, I sing loudly and try not to get into traffic accidents. Seriously. There are terrible drivers out here.

Then I get home (finally) and change into some sweats and hit the gym. Because of this heart/lung stuff, it's been a light workout lately. I'm not allowed to raise my heart rate much. Next I go home again and eat some dinner. I'm lucky because my father usually makes me something different than what my parents are eating, or leaves the meat out, or something. I love him.

On Thursdays I watch Bones. Every night I'm online. Eventually I get tired and go to sleep.

Fun times!

I wake up at about 6am.  I sometimes take night showers (if I have worked out) or I take a morning shower.  I fight off the impending sense of doom that comes with knowing I'm about to go to battle with a bunch of crazies.

I wash my face, brush my teeth, and put on face cream, in that order, always.  I straighten my hair if I feel like it, or I style it up.  This is all in my robe because I don't like getting my clothes wet.  Then I get dressed and usually put my shoes on.

I don't often eat breakfast at home--it will be something quick like fruit.  Today I had tofu scramble that I prepared for the week, and I am pretty proud of that.  Then I make coffee or tea and leave.

I drive about 15 minutes to work.  I cut it close a lot of the time because I stay up too late.  Oopsies.

At school, I make photocopies, write things on the board for the day, and get ready for the day.  I usually hit up vegweb for five or ten minutes.  My prep period is from 7:30 - 9:15.

From 9:15 until 10:40 I have my honors block.  They are pretty good but chatty, and in the words of one of them, "Miss, we just don't like each other."  Their attitude is atrocious.  They hate each other.  But they work hard enough.

Then I walk my kids down to lunch.  They eat lunch until 11:11.  On Wednesdays I have cafeteria duty, which is fun because I get to talk with the kids.  Then I bring my next class back up.  They are loud and rowdy and insane.

Third block is from 11:15 - 12:40 ish.  They are a handful.  Our current goals are staying seated and keeping our hands to ourselves.  This is the class with all the kids with special needs, and they do really well at activities and visual/kinesthetic things as opposed to seated work.  All of my "favorite" kids--the ones who brighten my day--are in this class.

Fourth block is from 12:45 - 2:09.  They are....something.  They are downright mean and nasty to one another.  Hitting, yelling, gossip.  They make the end of the day unbearable.  Lots of brilliant kids who don't really know yet how to act.  I try my best to teach them but it is tough when they do not listen.

2:09 - 3:30 ish I do work at school.  Blah.  Sometimes I just want to rush right home.  This is when I eat my lunch and/or early dinner.

After school, I go home and rest and go online.  Then I do work for the next day, and I go to the gym when I am done.  At the gym I do an hour or so of cardio on the treadmill, elliptical, and elliptical/runner thingy.  Then I come home and do either Pilates or Shred.  Then I shower.

I usually chat with AC for a little while in the evening while I work.  At night I talk on the phone or online with K. Typically, I get all ready for bed first (face, teeth, toner, face cream, and floss, in that order), and then I hop into bed to talk to my baby.  It is the highlight of my day and I look forward to it the entire day long.  The end!

A Day in the Life of Lisa  :)

Wake up at 5:30 (seems to be a populater time for vegwebbers to wake). Take doggies for a short walk. Sit in front of computer with coffee (and food if I'm really hungry) while facebooking/ checking personal email, reading running club chat board, etc. until I feel awake. Get dressed, pack gym back if it's not already packed, pack lunches for Smooch & me. Hopefully I leave for work before 6:45.

Ge to work around 7. More coffee, breakfast & check work emails & phone messages. Usually I make a list of what I want to do that day. Most days I sit in the office in front of a computer writing reports/ doing calculations & filling out forms. Right now, I'm working on a project that also gets me out one day a week. On that day I drive around to 2-3 different bridges & talk to the bridge operator, who 9 times out of ten is completely insane (no joke) Luckily, I get along with the coworker I drive around with. On office days I usually have dinner leftovers from the night before for lunch & sometimes go out to the grocery store or run some other quick errand (post office, bank) during the day at lunchtime.

After work I hit the gym for about an hour & take my shower there. Then I'm home a little after 5 usually & I make dinner, play with the dogs, play on the computer & watch a movie, read or maybe a board or card game with smooch.

Wow my life sounds boring!

....a confused college student.

The only thing I do on a consistent basis is go to the bathroom. When nature will call is usually pretty predictable, but I will not share that routine with you all.

I don't go to class consistently, so I'll just leave that out...

I usually wake u around 8, right before my alarm goes off. I get up (go to the bathroom), turn on the computer, and make coffee of tea, depending on my mood.  I get the nasty smelling cat food out of the fridge (its unfortunately meat-based) and put some on a plate for my cat Isis, who has to stay shut in my bedroom do to a UTI and cannot eat the same food as the other cats.
I usually spend a lot of time on the computer in the morning. I turn on my lightbox, drink my coffee and check FB, MS, and VW among others.
The rest of my morning varies, sometimes my boyfriend will come over while his daughter is at school, and we'll have breakfast together and he'll use the internet. On Mon, Wed, Fri, I work at 2:30 so ideally I get some things done around the house before I go to work, but often I just take a nap ::)

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I work at 12:30, so after spending as much time as possible on the computer, I round around like an insane person getting dressed, grabbing food and hopefully brushing my teeth. I'm lucky if I remember my walkman.
I get to work usually a few minutes late and avoid the scowls of the Master Teacher (I work at a daycare). I put my stuff in my locker, change out of my boots, and walk through the classroom, out of breath from walking to work, to a bunch of three-year-olds yelling "hi Liz" and one kid in particular who always says "Liz, I love you!" to which I respond of course, "I love you too." That always brightens my day :)
I read the staff notebook, wash my hands, do name check to be sure all the kids are in the room, then sit a the lunch table with the kids, relieveing another staff. This is the schedule after lunch:
Bathrooms
Playtime (focus activity)
Group Time
Nap / Gym or Outdoors for non-nappers.
Quiet Time Focus
Bathrooms
Snack
Free play (PM Focus)
Bathrooms
Gym/Outdoors
Cleaning/ Closing duties for staff.

As a caregiver I do different things everyday, I think it would be too easy for me to get into an annoyingly long rant about all the things I do, so I won't.

I wonder if the reason my day outside of work is so unpredictable is because my day at work is always unpredictable?

Ooooooh, I can top boring!  This is a typical "work" day.

Alarm goes off @ 5:40am.  I nugde the hubs - he gets up and does his thing.
I lay there until he's done - then I get up around 6:10am and jump in the shower.
Get out of shower, put on robe, dry hair, put on make-up, straighten or curl hair, find something to wear, get dressed.
Hubs leaves at 7am - comes into bathroom to say goodbye - I'm usually almost done by this time.
Start car (only in winter of course) and go to kitchen to make lunch.
Drive to work.
Get to work a few minutes before 8am.....check email and voicemail, then I'm pretty much done for the morning....thats usually when I get on VW.
Lunch is at 11:30.....eat in lunch room, go to Kroger - pick up stuff we need for dinner, come back to work.
Rarely do anything productive the rest of the day unless I'm given a special project....online shopping is a big part of my day....a bad habit I need to break.
5pm - go home!!!!! Yippee!!!!!
Get home, let dogs out, wait for hubs to get home.
Have a glass of wine or beer and chat about our days - more-so his, not mine.
Make dinner.
Watch TV.
Go to bed.

I think I beat you all on the boring day.......

A Day In The Life Of.....  Cali!

6am my alarm goes off.  I smack it three times.  By the third time, LB's blackberry is sounding out its alarm.  He gets up and gets showered and ready.  When he is done and comes back to the bedroom to get dressed I fall off the bed (its tall!) and watch the kitties take my warm comfortable spot with envy.  I potty, brush my teeth, shower, dry, put in contacts,  lotion, makeup, blow dry hair and then head to the bedroom to get dressed.  I fret about my clothing choice, black, black and red, black and tan, black and purple?  Or branch out and go brown? Its frightening.  I scan the upstairs, checking the office for my cell phone or boots, go downstairs and get my backpack ready with laptop, wallet, phone and water bottle.  Contemplate breakfast shake or sandwich.  Make choice, put on boots and leave at 7:30.

The drive to the train station takes 15-20 minutes in morning traffic.  Park in the garage and carefully make my way across a slippery snow covered intersection to the station.  Wait for the 7:58 train.  Chat with coworkers and train friends.  Endure the 35 minute train ride to my stop.  Catch the shuttle and endure the drive around the block and the stops at two other buildings first.  Get into work at 8:45 if everything is on time.

Dock my laptop, power it on, log on and check my work emails.  Work until inbox is empty. Open Firefox.  Check out my webcomics that I read, vegan blogs, and vegweb.  Head to the gym at 11:30, which it is in the same corporate building complex but it is at 301 and I work at 601 so it is a 5 minute walk.  Change, pedal for 10 miles on the recumbent bike. Shower, change, walk back to work.

Grab lunch from the cafeteria.  Take it to my desk.  Check my emails.  Work on emails if they are urgent. Eat while surfing.

"Work" until 5:15, power down, clean up my desk, potty.  Catch the shuttle at 5:30.  Endure the ride to the train station. Catch the 5:38 train that is rarely on time.  Walk across the dark, cold, slippery intersection to the garage at 6:35.  Drive home.

Cook dinner, take it upstairs and sit down at my computer to check up on things work blocks, play EQ2 with C (if we have a date), pet the kitties sitting in my lap/desk/back of chair.  Watch LB play WoW and point out how he is a "flat cow" more often than not because he raids and dies a lot, while I do all the above things.  At 10pm I head to the bathroom to take out my contacts, brush my teeth and take my vitamins.  Then its off to bed.

Boring boring boring!

A day in the life of Cakes! (and also Sean for some of the day..most of the day..)-

Wake up to the stupid Cingular/AT&T tune from Sean's phone. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, this happens around 8:40, Tuesdays and Thursdays it's around 10:30. I grumble and complain about it being cold, he tells me to go get ready. I brush hair, put on deodorant, mascara, and clothes. Sometimes if I have time I'll make breakfast (usually peebutter and jelly toast, but today it was leftover really expensive Amy's pizza), then brush teeth, put my laptop in my purse, and get back in bed if it's a Tuesday/Thursday til it's time to leave. Sean usually gets up ten minutes before we have to leave and does his stuff, then on M, W, F he drops me off at class (Chemistry) and goes to work at 9:20. On Tues/Thurs, we walk to class at 11:10 (math for dummies lecture for me, Harry Potter class for him).

After my class is over:
M,W,F: Walk back to dorms, nod at roommate, lurk on computer a little til around 11, nap til 12:07. Wake up, potty, put stuff in my bag for Intro to Food Sci, walk with FauxPod to the other side of campus for class. During class I half lurk online, half pay attention to the lecture. After class (1:20), I walk back to the dorms again, drink some water or instant iced tea, make soup if I'm super (souper? :p) hungry. Lurk online more, walk to Nutrition at 2:10. Pay attention usually because I like the class and everyone else is rude and chatty and I feel bad for the teacher. Class is over at 3:20. On Mondays I have math recitation at 3:30, so I run to that and sit bored for 50 minutes while people ask questions about high school level math stuff (ugh!). Go back to dorms again, shower, lurk around on the internet, decide what to wear, put on clothes for the next day, do face lotion, then if it's nice, walk to Sean's, or he'll pick me up.  Make dinner at his house because he has a kitchen, eat! Play with Creeper, lurk online/do ChaCha (internet job thing), watch TV, play TF2 (Sean mostly, but sometimes I'll also play), brush teeth, snuggles, go to bed.

Tues/Thurs: After class, walk back to dorms. On Tuesdays, I only have one class, so I have the whole day to myself, and I will nap or lurk online, do some homeworks, or take a super long shower. Thursdays I have Chem lab 2:30-5:20. After I get bored of sitting in the dorms, I'll walk/get picked up, go to Sean's, make dinner, bother him, etc.  :P

..I think I need to make more friends.  :-\

Everyday: Wake up between 7 and 7:30, depending on whether it's taking me 4, 5, or 6 alarms to get up. (Alarms go every 15 minutes). Make coffee, make breakfast (lately green smoothies, or whatever else I can grab if I'm lazy), and if I'm with it a sandwich for DH. What happens after this depends on the day:

M: Meeting day. Get ready so that I'm at work about 9. This gives me between 1 and 2 hours to catch up on email, do odds and ends, etc. before meetings. Mondays are usually my meetings days, and last until 4 or so (with a nice break from 1-3, usually, that I can catch up on more odds-and-ends type work...anything I can accomplish in a relatively short period of time, especially as related to students that I advise). (Some Mondays do not have morning meetings, and in those cases my Mondays look more like Tuesdays, although I have to come in for afternoon student/RA meetings). I leave the office usually around 4:30 or so. Lately this has been followed by a pass-out, then dinner cooking, then a workout if I'm lucky.

T: Writing day! Go wherever I'm inspired--today it was a coffee shop; sometimes if I'm really into it I'll just write on my couch in pajamas all day; sometimes I'll have to go into the office for an odd meeting and then try to write while I'm there. This lasts until 5:30 or so when I'll make dinner, before going to orchestra rehearsals until 9:30. If I work out on Tuesdays it'll be after rehearsal.

W: Teaching day. Take my time getting ready--will often work out in the morning, or spend part of the morning cooking, cleaning, or just goofing. I try to get in by 11. I grade papers, review lecture material and discussion material, hold office hours, etc. Teach from 4:30 until 7:30 or so. Go home, cook dinner (or lately DH has provided Wednesday night dinners courtesy of the local Chinese place), watch LOST and Life on Mars.

Th: LATE teaching day. DH doesn't wake me up on these days. Sleep in, work out, eat lunch, get in the office by about 1. Play catch-up for a few hours--whatever needs to be done (more teaching prep, more writing, service obligations, etc. Lately it's been teaching.) Office hours at 6, teach from 7:30 until 10PM at night. (Now you see why I didn't get into work until 1!)

F: Research day. If I have new numbers to crunch it seems to get done this day. If not, it's another writing day. Once a month there are meetings in the morning, but other than that it's really about my work. Get home between 4 and 6 (depending on when I got started), and either pass out with the hubby or go on date with him.

Late night (post-10:30 PM)--

Goof around online, watch TV or DVDs with hubby, drink beer if it's Thursday night.

This is pretty cool.  I'm gonna do my weekdays, as an elementary school music teacher.  I may come back later to do my evenings/weekends as a health food store receiving/stockgirl.

Ok.

I get up at 6am, take a quick shower and get back in the bed.  Awful.  I know.  At 6:38, my second alarm goes off and I get up again make my smoothie and coffee, dry my hair, brush my teeth, put on my clothes and am out the door by 6:57...if I wait until 7:00 I will be late. Ha.

I drink my smoothie during my 10-15 min drive to work, where I sign in, put my stuff down, grab my reading class materials, and go upstairs for morning duty (every other week).  From 7:15-7:40, I'm either telling people to "walk" and "stop running" on the stairwell or I'm preparing lessons on weeks that I don't have morning duty...that's also when I drink my coffee.

From 7:40-8:10 I teach a "small groups" reading class....well Mon, Tues, Thurs.  On Wednesdays, I rehearse with the 4th/5th grade chorus during this time.

8:15-9:00, I teach either 4year or 5 year old kindergarten.  I love both.  They are usually cute and pretty cooperative.  It's always fun to begin the day with silly kindergarten songs :)

9:00-9:45, I teach first grade.  All of my first grade classes are pretty good.  I have a couple "difficult" students in each class...Wednesdays especially....so much anger at such a young age.  :(

9:45-10:30...now this is where my day gets really good or goes totally down the toilet.  My third grade classes are so volatile.  Every single class!  I never know if I'm gonna be smiling or crying when they leave.  Fortunately, from 10:30-10:45 I get a little break to go to the bathroom, compose myself after third grade, etc.

10:45-11:30, I teach 5th grade.  Their attitudes are inexplicable.  Every single class.  The most disrespectful children I have ever seen.

11:30-12:15, I teach 4th grade.  They are kinda like the 3rd graders...I never know how it's gonna go...either really well, or really poorly.

12:15-1:00 LUNCH!!!!  YAY!!!  Since I don't have a homeroom, I get to eat in the faculty lounge :)

1:00-1:30, Planning

1:30-2:15, I teach 2nd grade and it's a pretty good way to end the instructional day.

2:15-3:00,  Afternoon duty

I usually leave school between 3:30-4:00 (except Wednesdays when we have faculty meetings until forever)

I drive home, change out of my work clothes, check my email, facebook, vegweb, etc.  Depending on what day it is, I either go to work at the health food store, go to yoga, run errands, or stay on the internets (like to today).

When I get around to it, I cook dinner, do work for school/more computer time/reading time and then bed around 11:30

Ok, I'll try this again!

My schedule varies, but everything else is pretty much the same. I most often work at 9:45 (10:45 if I'm due for a Sunday, sometimes I close, so I go in between 3-5). Anyway, usually I set my alarm for 8, and either get up before that, or around it. I usually strive to get semi-ready first, so I'll have that out of the way. I do my bathroom stuff, rinse my eyes (don't wash my face anymore), put my contacts in, and put on my baking soda. P usually gets up around the same time, or before (he has 10 or 11 class..and all day work after that, when he works), and gets our morning water. Then, (for the fall/winter routine) I put on my tall socks, my rolled up pants, shirt, etc., put some jewelry on, and do something with my hair. Alternatively, I skip all this and go straight to the computer...and get ready last minute.

After I'm semi-ready, I start my computer, and catch up on VW, fb, etc. Somewhere around in here, I make the freaking oatmeal. I know that P doesn't feel quite right if he doesn't have oatmeal, so that's what we have. If I'm feeling rebellious, he'll just have toast, or granola with soymilk (if we have any-maple and pecan...the only one in bulk w/o honey!). Anyway, oatmeal. If I've gotten semi-ready, I can wait until about 8:55 to finish getting ready. Oh, and I also have to make time to get our lunches together (or just my lunch). I pack leftovers, or a sandwich, and some fruit. I also get my backpack ready-lunch, full klean kanteen, phone, and get my bike stuff together-helmet, coat, gloves. I finish getting ready-brush teeth, shoes, makeup, and I move my bike into the living room (we keep them inside). When it's colder and/or snowing/icy/windy/rainy, I HAVE to leave by 9:25 to make it there by about 9:40. If it's warm and nice, it takes me between 6-12 minutes to make the 2+ miles..it also depends on traffic lights, and so forth. So, P usually carries my bike down stairs, we say bye, and I leave between 9:20 and 9:30. Then, I ride the usual route, lock my bike up, clock in, take my stuff off, put my stuff away, grab my money bag, and head to my counter.

Now, the EXCITING part. We usually have a morning meeting at about 9:45, so I just turn on my register, and head over to the meeting. The meeting lasts about 10-15 minutes, then I go back to my area ( I do love that I have my own little area..), and do my morning duties-count register, turn on computer, put in diamond trays, count diamonds, straighten everything, record numbers, clean glass..
The only times I am really busy (consistently) are during the holidays..so, I usually try to take my time, and drag out the morning duties as long as possible-usually until about 11 or 12. If I actually have something to do-changing inventory/prices/etc., then I'm fine..and can stay busy all day. If not, I'm extremely bored and find stupid things to do (like checking all the tags..), and check some occasional people out with their clothes, or whatever. I also have occasional sales/lookers. I usually go to (30 minute) lunch around 2 (if I'm working a full day), and have to make sure there's someone who can handle the jewelry counter while I'm gone. If it's nice, I go outside to eat, and eat on the bus bench that is in the sun (and just HOPE that no one sits by me), these days...I just eat inside the mall at a table..usually by GameStop, so I'll have someone to talk to occasionally (P, or his coworkers). I try to stay away from the break room..

I'm in the home stretch of the work day at this point, but it usually goes much slower..
I continue doing mindless tasks..etc.
Alternatively, if I'm closing, I do mindless tasks before the closing duties.
I very rarely work with my jewelry coworkers (only one person is needed)..so I look forward to the times when there is an overlap, and I can talk to one of them (only 3 of us). I occasionally chat with other associates...but I have to stay in my area..

Ok, so if I'm working a full day..I get off at 6, get all my stuff, clock out, and ride home (thankfully! it's not dark at 6 anymore). I either come home to P if he's not working (yay!), or he is working..
I carry my bike up, take all my stuff off, change clothes, rinse off my eye make up, take contacts out, cool down, and think of something for dinner. I'm trying not to eat late!
Evening/day off stuff includes reading, cooking, baking, watching tv (monday=house/intervention, tuesday=biggest loser!/svu, wednesday did=top chef :( ), just hanging out with P, talking, occasionally playing some game, watching P play games, computer stuff, organizing something, workout, cleaning, occasionally eating somewhere other than home,  etc.

Then, I get ready for bed, play some solitaire or bejeweled 2 (make me really sleepy!), get into bed between 10-12, sometimes read, always snuggle, and sleep. P is seriously asleep within 2 minutes.

When it's nice, I sit outside/do stuff outside a lot. When it's not nice, I start getting sad and really bored. Like..for the past 4 months.

a day in the life of......a Shelloid

alarm goes of at 6.30am...snooze repeatedly pressed until 7 or 7.15 am (or 7.30am if I have had a late night ::) ).  Get clothes from wardrobe and put in spare room.
Go to the toilet. Go to the bathroom and talk to Gary in the bath.  Chase Gary out of the bath by turning the shower on.  Shower, whilst listening to shower radio.  Out of shower and brush teeth - usually 4 minutes - then mouthwash. Face and eye cream and deodorant whilst mouthwashing.
Out of bathroom and iron clothes.  Get dressed and put on trainers.  Into the kitchen to make morning smoothie.  Also fill up lunch tupperware with soup (I usually make a big batch for the week and keep it in the fridge).  Into the lounge and put BBC news on, so I can check for travel updates.  Have my smoothie, put make up on if I feel like it, brush my hair and tie it up.

I leave the house at 8.10-8.20am and it's 5minutes walk to the tube station.  Half an hour on 2 tubes - usually have abook to read or may read the free morning metro paper.  8mins walk the other side to the hospital.
At the hospital I'll have a coffee before work and usually chat to Vicky in the tearoom about knitting, crochet, dancing or the news.

9am I start work - I'll check my email for 5mins then head to the admissions ward.  I am on the ward from 9ish until 1-1.30ish.  I spend my time on the ward discussing medication with patients, their carers, their community doctors and pharmacists. I'll see on average 15-20 new patients each day.
I'll clinically check drug charts, counsel patients, follow up any problems or discrepancies.  I'll advise the ward doctors on prescribing, drug choice and any other medication related queries.  I'll also gossip with the nurses and hospital managers.  At 11 o'clock I'll have another coffee and then on the dot of 11.30am I'll desperately need the toilet due to all the coffe intake ::)  At 11.35am you may find me swearing a lot if the toilet on the ward is in use.

Lunch is 1-2 ish.  I catch up with my work friends, bitch about people, talk about the weekends, general chit chat.

Afternoons I clinically check and organise discharge prescriptions from the admissions wards.  I'll again advise on any medicaiton related problems and counsel patients on their drugs.
We also have a lot of training to do.  I am currently training up a junior pharmacist and some training pharmacists.  They will shadow me on the ward and look after some patients themselves with my supervision.
Inbetween all this I have all my paperwork and audits and figures to do - I am always behind on this!

I finish work oficially at 5.13pm but tend not to leave before 5.30pm.  2-3 times a week I'll go straight to the gym and work out for an hour and a half, swim 10 lengths, shower and sauna for 10mins.  By the time that's done I'll get home at 8.15ish and have a late dinner - leftovers or my bf will have cooked.
On non-gym nights I'll get home about 6.15pm and cook as soon as I get in, so dinner will be about 7ish.
Over dinner, Niall and I will catch up on our respective days and after dinner I'll generally chase Gary for 10mins or so until she's too tired and decides she must sleep immediately.

On both gym nights and non-gym nights I'll do a few hours diploma work (at the moment).  After I finish my diploma assessment at the end of the month, I will be surfing internet or watching a DVD or chatting to Niall instead of diploma work.

Bedtime for me varies - I aim for 10.30-11pm, but if I'm on a roll with my work (or vw is too interesting - like tonight) it will be later.

And that is my day :)
