Free signed copy of RHIW for anyone who wants to participate!!
Hi lovely vegwebbers!!
I'm trying lots of new ideas to get the word out about the 2nd edition of my book and one of the things I'd like to do is find "representatives" all across the U.S. who would be willing to show my book to a few health food stores or cool book stores (stores that you would hopefully already be going into so that it wouldn't inconvenience you too much!!)...
In exchange, you would have my ever-lovin appreciation as well as a signed copy of the 2nd edition for you to keep!
If you are willing to do this for at least 2 stores (preferably 3 or more if at all possible), please give me your shipping address and I will send you a copy of the book. From there, you would just need to show the buyer at the store the layout of the book. It's really easy and kind of fun! The only time I haven't enjoyed this is when I come across a crabby retailer, but that only happened once and she wasn't a big fan of vegetarianism. But mostly, people are so nice if given the chance.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your time and help! I've been having so many people tell me that this book is converting them to veganism and I want to continue to spread that possibility, as it is such a win-win all around.
Thanks again!!

I would love to, but could you kind-of explain what you do when you do it, so I'll know if I'm up to it? I have presentation-type thingy issues.
Quintess...maybe another good place to get orders would be if people went to their local vegetarian or vegan society meeting and brought a copy for show and tell....sorry I'm not creative when it comes to these things.
Great question NMPixie, thanks for asking!! ;)b
Here's what i would love from the participants:
1. First, check out the book yourself and get to love it...I'll enclose a sheet of paper with the list of its special features as well (since it's so big it's easy to miss some things if you don't read it all).
2. When you go to the health food store or bookstore, take the book with you. Ask any employee: "Who's in charge of buying books for the store?" They will go get that person for you 99% of the time (your odds are usually best on the weekdays for this one).
3. Tell Joe Buyer that you found a new book that would go well in their store. Let them look at it and point out some of the features (lay-flat binding, kick-ass recipes, holistic toolkit, color layout, etc..).
4. Once they say they want it, get their business card and give them my business card. Then, e-mail me and let me know what you found out.
That's it! It's easier than it sounds, though! :)
Really, so far the book has sold itself. I've gone into several places that start off saying "we don't usually buy books" and they look at the book, love it, and order lots of copies.
So, that's what the general idea is...hope that helps!! :)

You're sorry??? That's a great idea!! Tag it on the list!! Anyone who wants to do this and has a decent sized group is welcome to participate!! ;)b
Guessing health food shops and bookstores in NZ aren't what you're after? Hehehe I totally would if you want the international market! :P

Actually, I've gotten lots of International orders so far! Especially Australia, NZ, and UK. Are there a lot of hfs, etc. where you live?
I know there is one local bookstore that will almost certainly carry it (they've got an awesome cookbook/health and well-being section)
There are two more bookstores I can also try that would also be interested.
There is also a local chain of HFS here that I think would be very interested too. And another local store.
So I've got five stores in Tucson that I think would buy it.
I don't know the answer to this since I'm not active on other forums, but are you already on the other vegan forums, Tess?

I live in Auckland, NZ's biggest city so yea there are a fair few around that I know about, some that I love and some that I haven't visited yet! But I travel a bit for work too, and am hoping to move back to Wellington which is much more vegan/health food friendly so there are quite a few places I can think of :)
OK, I'm finally going to get on this! If anyone else wants to do this, please let me know within the next few days. I'm going to mail everyone out their books this week.
Thanks again for offering to do this, everyone!!
XOXO
:)

The only other one I know about is veganpeace (http://www.veganpeace.com/). The admin, Wanda, has been awesome and really great about putting my book/recipes on her site! She has lots of other topics like parenting too which is really neat.
;)b
tess, ppk is a HUGE forum that you should join. they often have threads talking about memeber's cookbooks.
Thanks, Hespedal! I'll check it out!
:)
OK, Hespedal, I just took a peek. Maybe you know more about that forum than I do (OK, well I'm sure you do!), but I would feel like a jerk talking about my book on another author's site. What's your take on this?
thanks!! :)
i think that as long as all of your posts weren't "buy my book!" it would be fine. there are many posters there that have written and promoted their cookbooks on the site.
i know there are threads with lists of ppker's cookbooks that they've written, but i can't seem to find any of them and the search there is all messed up.
Thanks, H! And thanks for getting in touch everyone else. I'll be doing a shipment of books by Wednesday. Much appreciated!!
:)
I'd love to do it. There is a small health food store I always go to and a "holistic store"... also a vegan group and another health food store I could check out...

Do you already have the 1st or 2nd edition? If you're going to do this, I'll send you a 2nd edition either way. But if you have the 1st edition, you'll probably like this one lots better! ;)
Great, thank you! I do have the first edition. Everything I have made from it so far has been delicious...
Hi Tess,
I have a Whole Foods, a health food store and the best independent book store(Vromans) in the nation near me. I'd be happy to show off your book to them.
Hi all,
Sorry it's taking me so long--I want to make sure I've got all the info you need enclosed before I ship them! Busy week here.
If anyone still wants to do this and you have NOT yet given me your mailing address, please do so. My email is: eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%71%75%69%6e%74%65%73%73%40%63%61%72%65%32%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%71%75%69%6e%74%65%73%73%40%63%61%72%65%32%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) if you'd rather e-mail me your address.
I still hope to ship out eveyone's book/info packet this week though! And thanks again--so appreciated!! :)>>>
