Hey Canadians!
I'm planning on taking an extended trip through Canada (east coast & working west) & was wondering if anyone had any ideas of places to camp or good hostels. I'll be leaving in about 2 weeks and will be starting with the maritimes. Depending on how my vehicle situation progresses, I'll most likely be taking busses & biking.
Any good veg. restaurants I should look out for? Any specifically great nightlife or beautiful country that I shouldn't miss? Basically any info would be appreciated.
Also, would anyone like to penpal a little? It would be nice to maybe meet up & have some company every now & then. eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6f%66%67%6f%64%64%65%73%73%73%74%61%74%75%72%65%40%61%6f%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%6f%66%67%6f%64%64%65%73%73%73%74%61%74%75%72%65%40%61%6f%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))
Thanks!
If you're heading through Ontario at all, Algonquin Park is beautiful (& huge) for camping. I did a portage trip last summer, it's about a three hour drive north of Toronto.
Also, if you hit up Toronto at all, there are tonnes of veg options for you! Not sure if I I'll still be living in Toronto by then, but feel free to email :)
nice! thanks. if you'd like to keep in touch shoot me an email, i'm not a member so i can't get any of your contact info.

If you are heading to the maritimes, Cape Breton in Nova Scotia is beautiful. There are great hiking trails, sea kayaking, whale watching, camping, and some amazing sight seeing opportunities. Ingonish beach is pretty cheap to camp and you are close to the Cabot Trail. You can do backwoods camping in the Highlands. There are also some great museums and parks to visit fairly cheap. The Fortress of Louisbourg is a historical site. They has rebuilt the fortress and surrounding area as it was in the 17th century. They make the most amazing bread in stone ovens. Kennington Cove is a beautiful beach/campground right next to the fortress. The playhouse there also offers some cheap nights of assorted entertainment, plays and celtic music. In some areas you can participate in a ceilegh, a celtic celebration. The Miner's Museum in Glace Bay has a great history of the area, you can check out turn of the century miner's homes and explore a mine with former miners. Sydney usually has festivals on their boardwalk that you can enjoy for free. Check out these sites.
