i'm afraid of birds

really, i am, afaid of bird...all kinds, pigeons, black birds, pretty blue jays, ostriches, penguins, ducks....
anyone else have "weird" phobias?
???

Sharks and snakes.  Pretty typical, but intense nevertheless.  It suddenly occurs to me that if our enemies ever got ahold of this list, they could do some pretty serious psychological damage to us all... ;)

carmenmichelle, are we living parallel lives? first the soy allergy and now the bird phobia. funny. anyway, i'm fine with outdoor birds; it's the caged birds that freak me out. outside, no problem.  go figure.

Horny or horned toads.  I rarely see them any more but when I was a child, they were all over the place in my hometown.  If you don't know what I'm talking about:

EW--pregnant women creep me out as well.  Can't stand being around them or looking at them or them looking at me.

I also get very unconfortable when people look at me.  Ya know, that whole feeling that "someone's watching you" thing.  Arg it freaks me out!!  Makes my job and a lot of things difficult.....like being around people!  Ipod helps a lot though!

hmmmm....what else....I have a fear of strangers touching me.  I do not like it when people touch my skin.  I don't even let my family touch me......

Oh yeah, children under 8 cause some anxiety too.  They're so....sticky and unpredictable....and their beady little eyes STARE.  And they smell like shit, carry germs, eat anything, TOUCH anything.  and they're loud.

(On another note, my mom AND brother are both afraid of closets.  Sometimes I like to give them a little hell by stepping into a closet and screaming: ahhh!!!)

I'm phobic of vomiting. Me or anyone else. Seeing it on TV or anything.  I guess it's called emetophobia and it has been hell. At one point, i was so afraid to eat i bottomed out at 82 lbs at 5'5". I'm glad this topic was brought up because many people have phobias and all kinds of mental afflictions for that matter and when you talk about it with others it makes you feel less alone. (Matt Lauer of the today show is emetophobic, too) See?

I know EXACTLY what you mean.  I can't stand when people stare at me because I always get the sense that I have no privacy and they are waiting on me, impatiently.

I don't know if this happens outside Seville, where I live, but I hate when you're on the bus and the person next to you or across from you stares at you like you're something in a shop that they're considering buying. This also happens on the street. It's mostly older people who do it. My DH claims they're just looking vacantly at you, but they're not...you can see their eyes travel up and down your form, like they're going to ask for a pound of you and haven't quite decided whether you're fresh enough.
