I love this site! I had lost all interest in cooking in recent years. Now I'm trying new recipes every day. I wish there had been a site like this 19 years ago when I was working out a veg*n diet for the first time. It would have made such a difference.

I hear ya! This site not only helped me to become 100 % vegan, but helped me name my art booth, keep my kid uncircumcised, helped me deal with a co-worker, and get rid of mice (just to name a few). I basically think of it as my "dear Abbey" and trust the opinions on here!
How *did* you get rid of the mice? We've just been letting ours live in the wall so as not to disrupt their lives... They haven't shown any interest in coming out and checking out the have a heart trap, either. And I didn't want to put them outside when it was all cold and icy in the winter.
I hadn't planned to get more than recipes from this site, but now I see the possibilities.
(And I just realized that 19 years ago when we were going veg, we didn't even have a computer--let alone the internet or cool websites!)

I dont know about 19 years ago, but when I joined 11 years ago VegWeb was here and awesome. I am sure its been around a bit longer than that as well!
the first time I ever looked at anything on the internet was around 1998, as I remember. I didn't use it much at all then, because our computer was so slow it took forever to get around. I'd say I've actually been using the internet for around 10 years now.
It's interesting to think back, because it seems so normal now to run to the web for everything and anything. :)
It has been an interesting change in lifestyle. I have been gaming online for over 13 years so it seemed so natural for me to look up vegetarian info way back when. I think with today's individualistic society the communities we build online are vital to keeping us connected.
