Spare Ribs

When I was grocery shopping with my grandma today and she was getting meat I saw some spare ribs and I just thought:
Wow pigs have spare ribs like oh I'm not using these you more evolved humans can have them. I wonder if we humans have any spare ribs we can just give away to another species of animal who might think they are better than all the others and don't care about the true expense of consuming it for their body and the environment.

I know you'll all agree with that but I was sorta proud of myself for thinking that up. I texted it to my boyfriend's pregnant girlfriend who I am pretty close with and they both now live back home with my mom and I. She is interested in natural food and I feel pretty sorry for my niece Cambree because mommy is eating McDonalds and drinking soda and cow's milk and other crap she doesn't need. I want to get her starting to think just a wee bit about the big picture.

Exactly! I mean, who decided these ribs were spares? Unless there's some breed of animal with collapsing extra ribs that fold up inside the thorax unless it's doing some serious deep-breathing...

Actually I think "spare" means the old definition of "not much on them, very lean".
So why bother to eat them, say I?

Yeah, and there's the whole Cher thing...but I don't think she ate her spares...did she?

I don't know if you'd consider them spare, but humans do have "false" ribs. They do not attach to the sternum, and are considered to be anatomically superfluous.

Those are the ones Cher had removed. But did she then slap them on the barbie? I rather think not.

I would have done.

With some Fava beans and a nice Chianti?  ;D
Waste not want not...or should that be "waist not want not."
I still think removing your ribs so you can have a smaller waistline is just...weird. I can't imagine how her surgeon justified that one, medically.

lol....well I know my 'false' ribs are actually 'floating' ribs and can cause quite a bit of discomfort when they float out of place.... If I weren't concerned with looking even skinnier than I already am, I'd seriously consider looking into that procedure.... still may.
