Your pictures are looking awesome! Is that the "macro mode" that you guys have been talking about or do you specially light them?
When are ya coming over to cook? ;)

Aww, thanks guys! No, I don't arrange special lighting. I turn the flash off, and find a naturally well lit room. On cloudy days I've had to go outside. And, yeah, I use the macro setting. I'll admit, I'm obsessive... I take anywhere between 5 to 10 pictures off one item, until I'm pretty sure I've got it just right.

do you just have a regular digital camera? i have a canon, nothing special, and my photos seem to turn out kind of blurry. maybe i should try to get closer to the light.

I'm jealous of your pictures too!! I recently found out that my lighting sucks inside and I can take much better pictures if I just step out on the back porch in natural light. It really helps but I still take bad pics! :P

Hiimkelsi- yep, regular old digital camera. It's a Canon Powershot A80. Got it for Christmas a few years ago.
Jenniferhughes- I've done some silly things to get the lighting right. Back deck, my living room, my son's bedroom, and late evening I have to take them in my bedroom.

Really, though, I see so many gorgeous pictures around here. I'm having a hard time sticking to the under-appreciated recipes cause the pictures are so tempting!

Speaking of which: Baypuppy, did you see that Prettyin_Punk reviewed those Maple Buns? I think you're photo made her bake 'em.

HA! Same here! I think my neighbors think it's odd when i set up dinner on the window sill.... it is scary standing on the back porch balancing the dish in one hand and photographing with the other... I take 5-7 pics too but then if i haven't gotten a good shot by then i say screw it... the goal is to EAT it! :) But DH asks at dinner before he digs in, "we took a picture already, right?" I have him trained.

Apart from lighting, the most important thing to use is the macro mode on your camera. Once I discovered this, boring, blurry photographs are easy to avoid. It's used to take pictures of subjects that are very close to the camera (like food!). Most regular digital cameras have one, the icon usually looks like this:

Can't wait for the pics! I've got some more stuff, too. Not as much as I was hoping, though. Tomorrow, I'm hitting the sweets hard. My waistline totally thanks you for the lost recipe club, by the way.

Alright, Tkitty96. Your food porn is really killing me, especially that seductive strawberry shortcake. Perfectly moist texture, shape, color and presentation. Don't you ever mess up on your recipes?

<Blushing> No, it's more like <Turning beet red> Thanks, Saskia! That shortcake is delicious. It was a great recipe to work with. I goof up plenty. Somehow the camera isn't around to document it. ;) It sounds corny, but I really want to do the recipes justice. I try to.
