Today's my "Rebirthday!"
Today Dec 10 is the 17th anniversary of the day I made a huge decision that changed my life. It's the day I decided I was done with the closed system I was raised in and actually told my mother so over the phone. (7000+ miles was a safe distance!) It's the day that I started to work on all the issues that had made my life so difficult for the first 30 years. It's the day I started breaking mental shackles. I had to lose a lot (familly, friends etc) but I've gained so much more.
I've been so aware over the last few months that, even though I'm busier than I've ever been since university, I Like My Life. I like Me.
I'll never be rich, I'll never be beautiful...I'll settle for happy.
I spoke about it to some friends and they are coming round. Rumour has it there will be cake. This was a spontaneous offer on the part of one of them.
I love folks. :)>>>
That's so great, Yabbit! I'm glad you were able to get out and move on; no you're a fantastic VegWebber. (I'm also certain you're fantastic IRL, but I wouldn't know for sure.)
I'm not so certain what you're speaking of, but i am entirely happy for you!
happy rebirthday. :)

:-*
Happy is the best way to be! You go yabbit!
:)
I love the yabbit ~^_^~
Why, thank y'all. :)
Yes, there was cake. Proper, home-made, chocolate cake with what must be a thousand calories per square inch. Thick, velvety cake with thick, rich, delicious frosting such as I have not tasted since I left the English-speaking world. **swoon**
We sat and chatted for an hour or so about the wonder of Life, the wonder that is change and our ability to "take hold of our lives and say yes to some things, and no to other things. A person can change the way they do things. They can even change their luck." (Moonstruck) I am still learning to say "no" when I need to. But I'm glad I said yes to the change.
And to quote another movie, Norma Rae (1977): "Yes, it comes from the Bible: According to your tribes, ye shall inherit. But it comes from Ruben Warshovsky: Not unless you make it happen."
Amen, Ruben. Every road starts with the first step...but you gotta step out. You can't just stand still and expect to get there.
It's been a wild trip so far!
If you're happy yabbs then I'm happy for you too!
Happy rebirthday! I hope to get that courage someday. You're an inspiration. Truly.
