You are here

You know what really grinds my gears.......

Ok so maybe I'm just a weirdo, but there's silly little things that really bug me for no apparent reason - what about the rest of you?  Is there any little thing that really annoys you, but probably shouldn't that much?

Ok I'll start:

I hate it when peolpe jiggle their legs up and down when they're sitting down.  Some people will do this continually and I HATE IT.  There's no logic to my annoyance but it really bugs me.

It also bugs me when women put their make up on on public transport - just wake up earlier if you want to wear it - and don't give people dirty looks when they stare at you.

wow VR maybe i'll take a trip to Indiana and we can jump her... and steal her dog

I'm in... I'll go pack.

LOL's I <3 you!

Humans do suck seriously! And watching Earthlings in small increments hasn't helped... I get so disgusted with how people treat animals... If you don't want to walk your dog and take car of him/her don't fucking get one!

Agreed. That's the simplest solution I can think of. If you're 22 and only home for 1.5 hours a day, don't get a dog--enjoy this free time that you have now!  She whined to my boyfriend about how lonely she was (to my boyfriend!!!!), but that still doesn't justify ruining an animal's life.

VR, let's get a VW posse together, and take the girl out for a long ride in the country...and drop her off someplace. In the middle of freaking  nowhere. With no cellphone, no money, and no food. And no shoes. Don't worry--someone will take her in, right?

tee hee.  :)>>> You're the best.

VR, if nothing else works, maybe you could offer to take the dog out on walks with your two? At least then the dog gets some exercise and socialization as a consolation prize for the sucky owner.

Might also find a new home for it as well if you take it for walks.

I don't know anything about mastiffs, except that they are humongous! My boyfriend wanted one years ago, when he still lived on a farm with about 10 acres of land. He then realized he couldn't afford the dog or food!

It's a puppy, but it's already twice as big as my terriers...probably 20-25 pounds, if I had to guess. I've not once seen her walk it, except the one time she took the trash to the dumpster, about 50 feet from her door. It makes me so sad to think about it up there, with about 20 feet to frolic back and forth.  Will it go nuts up there, without exercise? I already feel like it's going to get so fat and unhealthy.

As puppies they need to keep their joints from being stagnant and they need a quality diet, otherwise the risk for joint problems later is increased about 10 fold. You really have to be carefull with mastiff breeds or it all goes horribly (painfully) wrong.

I have been looking for a new mastiff type dog to adopt for awhile. If I was in my own place I would grab my ski mask and take a long kidnapping drive. :p

my husbands mom person (not his real mom who is trying to move in) had a mastiff. It was WELL over 60 lbs and licked holes in the drywall. And she did let it outside. So yeaaaaahhhhhh. She wont have the puppy long.

Maybe she'll decide the bowls don't match her house as well as she thought. So she won't keep it.

What we need is a sort of a VW Pet Rescue Network, like the underground railroad of the abolition era... run it as a nonprofit, kidnap/ rehome abused & neglected pets, let Webmistress Laura be in charge of managing the (undoubtedly impressive) funds we'd raise, in donations from neighbors relieved to no longer have to hear miserable dogs howling all night... obviously we'll need to use some of the funds for night vision goggles and dog treats, but there should still be enough to purchase 'tincture of poison ivy' by the gallon, to sprinkle in the bed linens of humans that make our services necessary...

I think it could work! I'll start the tax-exempt paperwork...

Yezzz that would be awesome HCM! I really get disgusted the way people use animals  the same way they buy new clothes to try to "fill" something missing in there life.

VR can your BF say something to her? Since she obsesses about getting attention from him so much.

People who more than grind my gears and end up just plain pissing me off are doctors who can't take a suggestion from a patient without getting uppity and defensive, and then tell you that you don't know anything when they are the ones who haven't looked at your issue for one lame day of their lives.

Would it kill them to just accept some help when they are stumped? I hate this whole fucking US medical system.

Pardon me while I go plot my escape (IE: peruse New Zealand property listings).

Evergreen, it's the same if not worse in Spain. One look and they know everything, even though they haven't stopped to read your file or history or even look at the test results properly. Here it's worse because you're not paying cash down...no, it comes out of the taxes you pay! so you're still paying their salary but indirectly, and since they are govt employees and you aren't, you are dirt under their feet and they don't have time for you. Especially women, especially foreign-born women who have lived here for 30 years and have a college degree, thank you very much!

My body temp runs about half a degree below "normal" so by the time it hits "normal" I have a fever. I have mentioned this to several doctors so they know, and get "How do YOU know that??" in such a snide tone of voice. Uhhh...because I've inhabited this body for nearly half a century. I actually say that in reply!

Seriously FUCK DOCTORS! And NEVER tell them you are vegan if there is something wrong with you because all a sudden it's "Ah Ha! Yes that's it! I figured it out you being vegan is the reason for XYZ". Stupid!

For me: I agree with the "Old School" vegwebers... People STOP BRINGING UP OLD POSTS ALREADY FOR STUPID REASONS... It is way annoying and no longer that relevant :/

Good lord. I heard it was bad in Spain - didn't know it was that bad. :(

A member of my family has genetic issues and has been passed from one specialist to annother over the last year and a half. Today was specialist #7. Tomorrow is specialist #3 again, and a new one (#8) as well. I really shouldn't be complaining, as cases of this genetic issue have all kinds of horror stories in other countries, such as a doctor in Canada secretly putting a DNR on a 2 year old girl who was sick with the flu and the parents didn't find out about it until the child was dead.

Seriously FUCK DOCTORS! And NEVER tell them you are vegan if there is something wrong with you because all a sudden it's "Ah Ha! Yes that's it! I figured it out you being vegan is the reason for XYZ". Stupid!

OH! I know. I skirt that issue so carefully so that it never comes up. Every time it does, they give the AH HA and dismiss whatever the problem is as being a vegan. When I had Swine Flu last year, the fucktard told me I got it BECAUSE I WAS NOT EATING MEAT. Seriously? Seriously... I had never wanted to deck someone so badly.

Okay, I feel like I need to update you guys on the crazy neighbor. The dog ran off for the first time yesterday. Seriously, already. But she got her back. She has had this dog for 6 days, but already feels like she doesn't need to be on a leash. So yesterday the dog runs off, runs into the road, then off into some yards. Neighbor stands on her porch and screams the dog's name, but doesn't move for quite some time (yes, because this dog clearly knows her new name after only 6 days). Finally she moves her lazy ass and goes to try and snatch the dog. She finally does, and gets her back inside. Z was home and was absolutely flabbergasted.

One time at my parents' house their dog ran into the road (in the middle of the country, so let's say I was overreacting--they're the only cars that use that road!), and I sprinted after him so fast, barefooted, that I swear I probably broke some landspeed record! I can't imagine just standing on your porch watching your dog run into traffic. Dumb.

----

Since I'm bitching--I hate it when I'm running on a track, and someone will come up and start walking in my lane--I've been in this lane for MILES. There are 8 other lanes to pick from for you to waddle along at your 20 minute/mile pace. I need this lane to finish a workout. And they don't get the clue when I buzz them and then cut back right in front of them. Duh!

She flirts with my boyfriend all the time, which doesn't bother me 1/10th as much as her..."owning" animals. He asked her where she got the dog (he was thinking shelter--he said that he forgot for a split second that people "buy" dogs), and she goes "I talked them down to $1700." And he said "you paid $1700 for a dog at a shelter?!" and she laughed and said that she got the dog from a pet store. It was an impulse buy because she saw the pet bowls. BOWLS! I'm going to smack this bitch.

Can you call the apartment manager/ owner or some sort of animal service?

I wonder. I think we have a 60 pound weight limit, or something like that. We also have a 2 dog limit, but apparently that doesn't apply to her. She'll ruin any dog's life that she damn well pleases!

fb: I think that's what happened with the last one, so she put him back onto the streets. I had joked that he was going to commit doggy suicide, because he cried CONSTANTLY (he was locked into a bathroom barely big enough to hold a tub, sink, and toilet).

I'm sorry I keep talking about this! But it's a daily reminder of how little others respect and care for our furry counterparts. I'm not being creepy, but Z and I were rotationally home for the entire day today, so we knew when she was home, and she didn't walk the dog one time. It got to go out 2 times to pee for about 60 seconds each.

This makes me want to cry. People like this should never be allowed the privallege of any animal.

I agree. One time while I was at my friends house her dog got out and he's a breed that's known for being very, very fast. As soon as he ran out we both started chasing him all through the neighborhood and into peoples yards and stuff. I have bad asthma but I couldn't even think of anything else but getting the dog before something happened to him.

-I try not to bring up old posts.

-All of my doctors know I'm vegan and they love it. They've never said anything bad about it, never blamed my veganism on anything and have been very respectful about it. While I was in high school the nurses were concerned about me being vegan so they called me in one day and wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and quizzed me on relevent nutrional information and I aced every answer and they were blown away and were extremely happy. They weren't trying to change me or anything, they just wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and they were going to show me how to be vegan and still meet all of my nutritonal needs safely.

I know people who are like that with their kids.  Some people can't be motivated to care for anyone other than themselves.  Don't get me started.  Lol.

While it is good that they were concerned, it still doesn't make sense.  The vast majority of the population does not meet their nutritional needs.  I think it is easier as a vegan than an omin really, except for B12.  It is crazy for them to single you out but not be concerned about the rest of the kids.

They do ask the other kids, we would have semester check ups there. 99.99999% of the kids don't care about their health though.
