I'm vegan, but I swallow. It's ethical because humans can give permission, unlike animals. ::) ;)
It is a personal choice.
Human-human communtication is clear ....unlike animal-human communication, i.e. do bees wish for/allow us to take their honey?
In this case... I assume the human source of the byproduct has clearly communicated that they are happy and willing to give it.... what you do with it is your choice.

Whether or not sperm is an animal byproduct depends on whether you make a distinction between humans and other animals. Personally I do.

Isn't there a "Swallowing - I know I get enough protein because I am a smart vegan, but I do it anyway because it's fun" option?
And I really do hope you joined vegweb for more than this, Limegreen. I'd hate to think you're doing some sort of perverted study on vegans. But if you are, I'd still like to read it, so please post a link when you're done. ;)

Ever since someone mentioned porn names, I seem to have been stepping out of my normal comfort zone for topics like this...it's actually kind of fun for a change...but anyway, wouldn't you just be stating the obvious? :)
YA know...I was gonna "type in" another response...but there are minors on the board ...I'll leave it alone (not that they wouldn't know)...If anyone ever watched Sarah Silverman at the HBO Comic Relief from a few months ago....well...it's what she said regarding birth control! ;D ;)

ok, so i absolutely did not jsut start an account to post this. i am a new vegan and i love all the resources that this site has to offer. i posted this kind of as a joke, but also wanted to see the logic behiind the arguments. which is exactly what happened. i hope i haven't offended anyone, and you guys are awesome for putting in a little thought. and i'm sorry that there is no option for ," i know i get enough protein because i am a smart vegan, but i swallow anyways because it's fun". but i was admittedly inebriated and i overlooked that one.

great Sarah Silverman link. I love her standup! As for the (highly unoriginal) topic at hand, it's only unvegan to swallow if they did not want your mouth there in the first place.... which is rarely, if ever the case. So i guess it just comes down to personal preference
