Donuts- Cake and Pumpkin

I know I've seen this somewhere but I've been searching the web and on here with no luck. I know that I've read somewhere about making donuts with using just cake mix and pumpkin puree. Anyone know what I'm talking about and can help me out?
I haven't heard of that, but I remember fb (?) talking about making brownies from box brownie mix and a can of pumpkin.
I think this was with a box of spice cake mix and just pureed pumpkin but I wasn't sure about baking times or if it had to be fried or put in a mold or whatever.
I haven't heard about donuts, but this cupcake recipe sounds like what you're talking about:

i guess you could omit water entirely, and see how the texture turns out just as pumpkin + mix. and fry drops of the dough as donut bites. making them into rings might be too hard for a cake type mix; it would be easier for yeast-leavened donuts.
Thanks. When I go home for break I'm going to try it and I'll let you know how well/if it worked.
