Check out these Ivory Towers! (That's Oxford University.)

This thread is for all things college and graduate-school related.
Are you currently attending? If you're a soon-to-be freshman, where did you get in? What's your major?
And, most importantly, how are you doing sweating out your finals? Ha!
I'm a month away from my finals. Russian & European Politics, eep. Also just applied for an MA in Russian & East European Culture so, um, I am clearly insane!
I graduated in 2006 from Reed College, with my BA in English/Creative Writing. My thesis was a novella -- I had to petition my department to get permission to do it. (I think my parents were expecting something a little more "serious.")
Three years later I'm about to start my MA, also in Creative Writing at Pacific University. Crazy! I always thought that writers are born and not made -- but now I'm starting to wonder if a little training isn't a bad thing.
At my old college, it's finals week and people are starting to go crazy! On Friday Renn Fayre starts and all hell will break loose. I feel like I'm too old for it now, but part of me still wishes I was going.
I'll be a sophomore in the fall at a fairly large university in Georgia that you've probably never heard of. Going into college, I wanted to major in music, anthropology, English, or pre-med. My interests are quite varied, but I enetered with a major in physical/biological anthropology, though I'm still not quite sold on that over cultural anthro. I still have a keen interest in English, and now in archaeology. I even considered a double major with English, but the people closest to me were pretty unwilling to talk about it with me, so I've dumped the idea. Maybe I could do a minor? I don't know. I took Advanced Placement courses in high school, yadda yadda, I'm taking my final college English course this semester, and I'm a little bit sad. Oh well.
Chickpea, that sounds like a great way to do it!
I slept in today instead of going to my class. I have one week left of school and I can't get myself to do a damn thing. I am an art therapy major at a small school and I am supposed to graduate in a couple weeks. Finally. I can't wait. I should be writing my final papers now :(

What's wrong with being an English major? Nothing!
If you're committed to going through with a BA, my opinion is that you shouldn't treat it like a trade school. Study what you love, go to interesting classes, and cultivate your mind. Seriously. Does the world really need more business majors?
Furthermore, you'll probably change your major at least twice before you graduate ... I started out in the linguistics department!
I just took my first of 3 finals a few hours ago... My japanese oral exam. I think I did ok but we'll see. I have the written later this week then a history final next week (not confident about it). But next year i'll be a sophmore and studying in Japan kinda nervous but wicked excited.
I did a year of a BA in Theatre and Film with Deaf Studies as a kind of minor, then chucked that in to go off on a tangent and did my Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting (highest qualification you can get in that area in this country sadly)>
I graduated last year, its less than 6 months ago and I really miss learning!
So today I'm applying to go back to study extramurally and finish my original degree, trying to decide if I want to change to a linguistics major or an English major or if it would be too difficult to do a double...
My original college plans were to go to school to major in equine studies and training, since I've been riding half my life. But, my parentals weren't so cool with that, so that changed. I'm in my first year (but i'm a sophomore) at a NY state school in New Paltz. I got accepted into the BFA art program for drawing and painting, and ended up ditching that this past semester to major in art history. I'm minoring in German as well.
With either of these majors, I probably will end up living in a box on a NYC street corner, anyways lol.
There's only a few weeks til I'm outta here for the summer, and I can't wait! There's no air conditioning here, and it's been 90 degrees for the past 3 days :(
I am a senior. I am majoring in English with a minor in German. And I am currently studying abroad in Germany. This will hopefully be my last semester of college, but trying to get enough credits to finish up is turning out to be way harder than I thought. So I may have to reevalutate. :-\
I am just SO ready to finally graduate.
Today is my last class day for my BFA in Illustration. I've spent four years here and am so ready to move! I wish someone would have let me know how expensive it would be! I sooo have loans and don't even know if I'll be working in my field....
I want to get into book publishing, but it doesn't look too good. haha. oh well, I'll do something.
It is fun though, and I've grown so much as a person and met awesome people!!

That's rad! I have a close friend from high school who studied illustration at RISD ... she did end up getting into children's book illustration, and is starting to make a name for herself. It's really inspiring to me to know that it's possible to use your creative degree and still make a living. (PS. her website is http://www.christinarodriguez.com if you want to check it out.)
i got into penn state, but im going to flagler (in st augustine, florida) where my sister goes. its closer to home and my parents said that maybe in 2 years i can transfer to penn state. i hope!
Guys! I hit 4000 words on my dissertation today. Halfway there!

Yay! Good for you, Catski! :D
I'm graduating this year from UC Merced (new UC), and I might *might* be going to veterinary school next year at Western U in SoCal. I'm an alternate candidate for them, and so I should be hearing anytime between now and... August =/ But if I DO get in you'll all know because I'LL BE TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS OMG!!!!!!!! for once.
I'm ready to leave school, but not ready to be working for 50 weeks out of the year -_- Oh well. I go where life takes me...
lol, admittedly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the subject line "college" was this:

(the video isn't great, but I was referring to the song)
I went to Cornell University and got degrees in Biological Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Now I teach 7th grade math and I love it. I'm in a two year service type of program, so I'm not sure what I will do when I am done. Ideally I'd like to go to grad school and study nutrition (vegan nutrition, naturally) or become a school psychologist or guidance counselor. If my second year of teaching goes well I might pursue that as well, but right now I'm freakin exhausted.
If I do go to grad school, I want to go to the west coast. I also really want to be a librarian. Maybe later on in life. I'm so fickle. :)

Library Science is very hip right now ... you'd be in good company!
I think the University of Washington has an MLS degree that you can do as a low-residency program (as in, you only spend 2 weeks a semester on campus in Seattle). It's a highly regarded program.

And you'd get to sport rad librarian swag, too!
I just had my senior show today and it went okay...
it was the last thing I had to do for school (besides doing the graduation thing where I get my degree)
I'm excited and scared. Two weeks from today I will be moving to NYC and I have no idea what to do..
I'm doin' time at a transfer college- lib arts. Not hell per se, but still not really fun.
I mean, I'm sorry, I though people grew to be more intelligent in college. WHY does it feel like everybody around me is an idiot? I mean, not EVERYbody, but MOSTLY everybody.... *Sigh*
It's like highschool with degrees... I was homeschooled through Middle and High school (lucky me, I know), so dealing with crap like this is kind of new to me...
Can't want to start my botany class next fall though! Woot! I honestly don't care if it's tons of work, I'm pretty sure I'll lurve it.
