Let's talk about our tattoos.

I don't have one yet, but I intend to get a few during, say, the next decade. One is going to be a matching one with my two sisters. I also want a tattoo that somehow symbolizes veganism. In terms of spots to put them, I'm thinking hip or foot. Not too sure. I've also always wanted a little tiny heart somewhere.
What tattoos do you all have? Where are they? Inspire me, please!
I get social security money while i'm still in school because of his passing, 600 a month (mostly being saved up for school and such) and my mom told me to get any one i wanted with the money. But, yeah, they can get expensive, i got mine during this freaking crazyy sale. It was mabye 100 dollars with shipping MAX, and included a chain (which wasnt crap like i suspected, its actully a very very nice chain that i would've probably got in a store for 300 dollars or something!)
i've got infinity on my leg, but for a much different reason: it's (imho) the most important concept of modern mathematics. i guess there is some spiritual stuff to it, too.
i've got more tats planned, but i need a real job to afford them...
next up is pi on the other side of that leg, but instead of any lines, it'll be completely made up of the first <however many> digits of it, ending in an elipse. hopefully it'll work so it just looks like pi from a distance, but when you're up close you can see the numbers.
then i want two hands holding up a lightsaber on my other leg. like a movie poster and the cover to the jedi academy sourcebook for the west end games star wars rpg 2nd edition (if you think that's a nerdy reference, wait until the next one).
my main piece will be a full sleeve that is a star wars battle diorama kinda thing. hopefully it will be abstract enough to just look like swirls of color and stuff from far away, but up close it will be a bunch of fighting and stuff. starting with jedi fighting sith close to my wrist, possibly with a main piece on my forearm with yoda fighting the emperor or an old republic jedi fight; then moving to rebels fighting stormtroopers, with a inside piece of luke fighting vader; then it will fade to a night sky and space and have an x-wing chasing a tie fighter chasing the x-wing, then have the millenium falcon flying towards (or away from, i haven't yet decided) the death star which will be on that upper part of my chest or back. oh god, will it be awesome.
i also want to get euler's formula somewhere, and maybe a fibinacci spiral.
i should probably find me a wife first, i'll never get laid again with so many math and star wars tattoos. :)
i do plan on having some non-nerd tats... I'm saving the space in front of my heart (or the left side of it, anyway) for if I ever have kids, so I can get their names there. maybe cherubs holding ribbons with their names and birthdays on them or something cheesy like that.
Haha, that sounds pretty cool; hours and hours of tattooing! Nothing better than that!

i think the fibonacci sequence is way fascinating. a spiral would be a pretty sweet tattoo!

Your math tats are swoonworthy. :-*
lol, flik!, i love you.
this is mine shortly after it was done. The colors are more muted now which is how I wanted it.
it really has a lot of meaning for me...I love it.

that is really pretty! i love the colors in the wings! :)
thank you. :)
I want another one between my breast. I just haven't decided "what" yet. I'm thinking maybe a celtic knot design of some kind.
My dad is a tattoo artist and I have no tattoos. It's my own form of rebellion.
And about these:
They are Chinese characters for "Love, Tolerance, Happy/Joyous, Free, Forever"
My next one will be "patience" and I'm planning on going all the way up my back with the symbols.
Not sure what else to do though, but Love the ink!
I don't think they all bear the meanings you were told. The first two are correct. With the third, 欢 can be a partial of 喜欢 which means "to like" ; to mean happy , literally "satisfied with" it needs four additional characters. To indicate pleasure with something or being happy, you can use 高兴 . The fourth character literally means "overflow, all over, or randomly". To express "to feel free" would be 随便 but you would also need 的 to indicate who/what is free. 永 is also only a partial, it should read 永远 .

Well that certainly sucks. At least they don't mean anything bad!
Also, aren't there different forms of Chinese?

I like that.
Hi Meggs,
There are different ways of writing standard Chinese, traditional and simplified. Your tattoos are simplified Chinese. You're right though, at least they don't mean anything bad! Also, I've seen a lot of tattoos where the characters are upside down and yours aren't misplaced or missing any strokes.
