....clean, folded dishtowels
....waking up early and drinking a cup of hot, black organic coffee
....cognitive freedom (nobody can ever take that away!)
...running
....my family
...a clean house in general
...haha that's all i can think of at the moment ;)
My cute little seven year old was away for a week with her mom visiting friends and returned last night! Yay. We went for a long walk tonight and she talked all the way for 40 minutes straight telling me all the things that she did. I guess she missed me and that made me feel real good. Oops I just realized that this wasn't a little thing that made me happy but a big thing.
What a beautiful daughter you have! She has such a glow in her smile.
A few other little things:
When the neighbor's dog comes to visit me (I don't have a dog, so she is always a welcome guest.) and I sit in the grass and rub her belly for twenty minutes
Listening to Gillian Welch sing "I Had a Real Good Mother and Father"
The new apple-blossoms on my neighbor's tree
The smell of the daffodils that grow at the end of my street
Lucille Ball movies
Purple hyacinths. They smell like the color purple to me. I don't know if that makes me sound like a druggie, but I swear I'm not. They just smell purple. I love it.
I alsolove it when my family defends me. It reminds me that there will always be someone in the world who loves me.
eye contact
homemade pizza
8 hours of sleep
a good hair day
live music
sunshine
wham!
Our house has a ton these Asian ladybugs in them that over-wintered in the attic apparently and since it's getting warmer they're coming out and crawling all over the windows. Well, I have found that catching lots of them in a little glass then setting them free outside is so wonderful! I shake the jar and they all fly off on the wind. It sounds pretty dumb saying it, but it brings me some joy :)>>>
--A blackbird's song, particularly in the city. You can keep the nightingale, just leave the blackbird with me.
Ha, haven't been around in awhile but it is good to see all the normal crowd still here. How are you? My son is going to be 6 months old tomorrow...6 MONTHS!!!! And I still can't find a job.
Anyway, what makes me happy,
The sound of my son's laughter
When he occupies himself so that I can have a few moments to myself
5 or more hours of sleep in one block
hiking on a warm spring day with my son in the Snugli
Watching my boy grab Scooters fur/skin and pull and see Scooter look totally annoyed...sorry, it is just so darn funny I laugh my head off. If it really hurt, he would meow, but as it is, he just looks really annoyed.
