The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.
So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!
Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged. In fact, they are mandatory.
So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food? Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate! I would love to have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors. And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.
Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color. THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?
Speculaas, stroopwafels... yet I'm genetically programmed to like all of these, it seems.
I think everyone is genetically programmed to like these.
Except maybe Minke, but we know how she is.
but not drop! I don't know anyone who doesn't have Dutch blood who likes it!
where is Minke? She hasn't been around here in ages, it seems.
I think she's doing something really lame and time-consuming... sounded like "skool". idk.
I think Minke got pouty and stomped off after being called out on being a bitch to snowqueen.
Given the choice, I'd rather have sq. <- yes, I said it
I made a mistake. I finished my holiday shopping yesterday when I should have been making my Thanksgiving timbale. It's freaking hot, and I didn't even use all of the peppers called for in the recipe. Ironically, I'm supposed to taste the mixture and adjust the seasonings. I can't feel my mouth after tasting it, there's no way I'm going to be able to do anything as delicate as taste it.
I'm supposed to make it one to two days in advance so the flavors can meld and it can mellow. I only gave it a day, when two would have been much better.
Oww, is drop that salted licorice? I'd tried some once after being curious about it for years and...it was disgusting. ::) Love stroopwafels though. I think I'll buy some today.
I've been wondering where Minke went too.
HH, I hope your timbale turns out ok. I'd probably like it super spicy, so if it doesn't mellow you can always send it to me. :)

yup. I really am not a fan of overly salty food, but I enjoy super salty Dutch licorice. weird. My mum has been around my dad's family for over 40 years now and she still can't stand it, but my brother and I have always liked it.
hh, I just noticed what you added to your post up there.... haha, she sure is good value! Must about time for another re-surface and lifestyle re-evaluation from her, surely?
I just searched for Minke, I knew I hadn't seen her around for a while, but I didn't realised she'd actually deleted her profile
She deleted me from fb a long time ago!
Minke and I were never friends on fb, but she blocked me so comments to people's updates were disjointed because I didn't get to see the whole convo thread. I'm not one of those people who has to friend everyone I meet, so I'm fine with someone not friending me. Before that, I was neutral about her, but blocking is unnecessary and moved me into Camp WTH.
On the other hand, I look forward to seeing what sq will think of next.

:nono: no way
probably the same thing as always, i would guess

WANT
Pumpkin Smoothie
1/2 medium sugar pumpkin, cooked flesh of (or 3/4 cup canned)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup frozen cranberries
2 tablespoons sweetener
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Can anyone recommend a good corn muffin recipe? I totally forgot about doing some sort of bread/muffin/roll type thing for tomorrow. I bought fresh cranberries from TJ's a few days ago on a whim thinking I'd like eating them as they are but they're too acidic for me! I don't like cranberry sauce so I'm planning on adding them to said corn bread/muffin things.
Well they are the same/similar (?) to speculoos which is big in at least some parts of Europe. ..I've heard.
yup, I'm Dutch, and speculaas biscuits have been a part of life in our family as long as I can remember.
Speculaas, stroopwafels, drop - I don't like salty food, I don't like overly sweet things, yet I'm genetically programmed to like all of these, it seems.
I have a vivid memory of being given some Dutch licorice in high school and, after a few seconds of tasting it, spitting it across the room. :-D
I don't like biscuits. BUT. Speculaas rock my socks. Ever since I knew of the Dutch cafe here in Christchurch, I've visited them when I can... they make great coffee, and give a free cinnamon biscuit (speculaa?) with each cup. :)>>>
SO many countries lay claim to Spekulaas/Speculose!! The Belgians, the Dutch, even the French...when we all know it's Danish!! ;)b ;D
If the Biscoff ad had said, "Spekulass (or another spelling) is Europe's favourite cookie"--now that I could go along with. But the Biscoff brand is unknown here.

Must have....I bought some pumpkin spice a couple of months ago, but can't remember why and I always have canned pumpkin on hand ever since I read in SuperfoodsRX how healthy it is.
I just discovered a quick and easy hot and sour soup. Basic veggie-full soup broth, add sriracha and some white vinegar and you're there. Great for clearing your sinuses!!
I've had a massive irritability headache today and am expected at my neighbor's house at 4p.
I was on a waiting list for a weight bench (5 positions, $70 @ Amazon black friday deal). Just before I got a 15 minute window to buy it, my headache started lifting and when I hit the place order button, the sun came out for a second. Apparently, all that's required to make the day better is a little consumerism.
(I'm really exciting about the bench. I've wanted one for over a year because I have The Book of Muscle and some of the exercises require a bench and I haven't otherwise been able to afford one. A discount, no tax, and free delivery = awesome.)
Adjustable bench: -10, 0, 15, 30, and 45 degrees

I made Biscoff ice cream.
I just lost half my body's water content to drool.
