The official, amazing, aimless chitchat thread.
So this is where we go to make small talk that doesn't really fit into other threads.
It's the thread with no attention span!
Frequent, arbitrary changes of topic are encouraged. In fact, they are mandatory.
So, I was just thinking, wouldn't it be awesome to have the decor in each room of your house be inspired by a food? Like, I was cutting up eggplant today, making my accidental eggplant chips, and I though, wow, this eggplant looks so pretty against this green plate! I would love to have a room inspired entirely by eggplant colors. And then I thought there could be ones inspired by mangoes and apples and sweet potatoes and pretty much any other pretty food.
Hey, a friend of mine made these really awesome mosaics of all her food pictures based on color. THIS is what I mean:

So, what was I saying?
BUT.... I was thinking.... avocado-palm ceviche and mini arepas and Viva Vegan. Does that sound delicious to you? Omni-friendly?
you don't think the omnis might be a bit confused by being asked to chew on a cookbook?
but yes, delicious.
I've been thinking a lot about oww, shell, and cw :) I think it has to do with watching the Lord Of The Rings multiple times and wondering if thats what they would sound like.
cw is from Iowa...
haha.
I haven't seen any Lord of the Rings movies, no idea what the people on there sound like, but I suspect there aren't many/any New Zealand accents obvious in there.
Scenery's real though!
Think about the countdown to retirement.
^ This. If my retirement doesn't get all jacked up in the meantime. And thanks for the support Oww.
haha.

The accents are all vaguely English, I think. Definitely not NZ-sounding. And yes, the scenery is real, but some of it was cut & pasted. Like there will be waterfalls or mountains in the background that aren't actually in that place...if that made sense.
Hearts of palm are yum.
BETTER FRESH THOUGH.
In ag we cut up palms to eat. Hah.
i am filling a 55 gallon tank i got for my turtles splinter and shredder as an early christmas present from my hubby (he is impaitent). btw i am slowly catching up on vw and my new fav thing ever is a tofu scramble for breakfast (and sometimes dinner too)... omg. i would buy tofu like once every 1-2 months for stirfrys, (not b/c i don't like it, i love it, but to cut down on soy) now i am every other day making a scramble.... someone help, i need help! my tofu hatin' hubby loves the hell outta them too.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any 12-step programs for tofu addiction....sorry.
Lol Jess that sounds like me right now. Have you tried tofu with Salsa Verde?
I think I associate CW with LOTR because of the pics from halloween. I've never really heard a NZ accent though and I know I could probably hear it on you tube but, I have dial up and it's not happening. The only accent I've heard is English and they do kinda sound like that but, not all the way. Maybe Irish? Now I'm not even going to go into my obssesion with British and Irish Red Heads :)
Btw Oww have you ever heard of a weta? I saw a pic on Kelly Live today and it's a big grasshopper looking bug that supposidley lives on some remote island in NZ.
St. Petersburg got ranked as the saddest city in America....WTF?!! :o Well, if it's so freakin' sad then GTFO BITCHEZ!!
*channeling Base*
The Burg rocks! :)>>>

I'm not oww (obviously) but yep weta's live all over NZ (as far as I'm aware). They scare the hell out of me although i believe they're harmless - but UGLY!!
In our previous house we had a log burner and my partner, N was putting a log into the burner one day and I hear him freak out - and it was a butt ugly weta on our log!!! Urgh. Neither of us could bear to touch it, so we just threw the log outside.
and as for NZ accents: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=21691.msg468227#msg468227
Oh, man!! LR, I don't exactly love you for bringing that up! The word Weta sounds like a cuddly cute bird. I googled the image. Holey fecal matter!!!
My eyes!! :o
And it's late here, and I have to go to bed with that in my head. Strewth.
I googled Weta too..euw. Bugs like them (and grasshoppers) with back legs like that sort of freak me out.
jejeje at least I'm not the only one who has that bug on my mind all day. Hopefully I won't have a dream about it as I do not really care for bugs. They creep me out. It's Kelly Ripa's fault for showing me on tv this morning :)
Yowsa, that's a big bug! Regular grasshoppers and crickets don't freak me out but we have these weird "cave crickets" in our basement; they have small bodies and huge back legs. They sometimes find their way upstairs and show up in weird places LIKE MY PANT LEGS. And the other day I realized (too late) that there was one in my shoe. Bleah. At least if there were a weta in your shoe, you'd know it before you put it on.

This is a weka... a bird, yes... but neither cute nor cuddly:

And, for those who didn't get acquainted with the weta via google... my kitteh's giant paw vs. weta:

they're both cute
those weta things remind me of the jerusalem cricket we sometimes see around here. I see them just rarely enough that I'll have a WTF moment when I see them and go... oh right, a cricket.

You mean that there IS such a thing? I thought "Jerusalem Crickets!" was just something old women said to keep from swearing. :o

HAHAHA!!! I'm going to start saying that! (I need to stop swearing before Vincent starts picking up on it).
yep.

they're 1"+
My parents were showing a couple from Australia around California and they pointed out a coyote running into the bushes. The Australians got excited. They didn't know coyotes were a real thing. They thought they were something made up by Looney Toons.
