What Would You Like Done With Your Body When You Die?

Sorry if this is morbid, but we've been talking about this all afternoon and I'm curious what others want done with their bodies after they die.  This is meant to be lighthearted, as I am not a very serious person.

Both and Andy and I would like to be cremated.  I would like my ashes to be divvied up amongst  those whom would like to have a little bit of me......then the rest go to Andy, if I die first.  He is to wear a necklace with my ashes in it and get a tattoo (a dreaded task in his book) with my ashes mixed into the ink.  My mother has agreed to uphold the law, in my absence.

Andy would like to have his ashes sprinkled into orange balloons with sad faces on them, then released on his next birthday, after his death.  And, yes, I pointed out how un-enviromentally friendly this was.

My friend Megan would like to be stuffed.  I'm not sure this will be feasible, but I could be wrong.

You?

amymylove,

That's exactly what I thought too.  If my husband goes before me, I really think I might do that.  It depends on the cost.  Just seems like a cool idea without being creepy (i.e. carrying around ashes in a pendant, gross).

When i was little i wanted to be blasted into space. Not my ashes. My whole body. I said i would build a rocket during my life for this purpose. So aliens could find me and be like WHOAH THAT GIRLS COOL LETS GO MAKE EARTH FRIENDSS.
And i used to want to be mummified. So maybe in the future they'd think i was important.

But i think cremation is chill. Something cool with my ashes after though. Like i want anyone that wants any should take some, like with my dad i got a pendant for him, the idea of that is really cool.
I kind of like the whole, thrown out in the ocean deal, just because then i'd get to travel all over.

If we used sigs, I would put that. You should put that as your subnick.  ;D

I love all the ideas.  While I love cemeteries I would prefer that after organ donations I would be cremated and the ashes buried in Mariposa.

I remember an episode of Farscape where they were on a cemetery planet full of crypts and graves atop graves.  Kind of puts the overpopulation of the dead in a neat perspective.  Or I could just be a morbid geek. hahah

For the past twenty years I have worked in the mountains and have avoided being eaten by the grizzly bears so when I die I would like to give them my body to eat as thanks for not doing it when I was alive. It will never happen though, unless I happen to die when I am lost in the woods, which happens quite regularily, and no one can find my body. I liked some of the other ideas though too.

Don't t think this is a good idea as they would get a taste of human meat and thing, hey, this is pretty good, I want more and then go kill a hiker.

Anyway, I want to be buried, naturally of course: NO IMBALMING, wrapped in a sheet or something and buried in the wilderness of Alaska, no grave marker except a tree.  I want a tree to be planted right on top of my grave, because I believe that my spirit will live on in that tree.  (Not really, but it sounds good, and I love trees, my body would be fertilizer for the tree)

Nah, they would get a taste of me and probably become vegan! ;)

I have signed up for the cheapest possible burial with the local "burial society" (for lack of a better word for that uniquely Spanish organisation). The reason I have it at all is that they will do the paperwork etc (which is major here) for the grieving spouse left behind, who will be in no fit state at the time to deal (and will probably be me, since DH is 18 yrs my senior).
The cheapest poss means the common grave. They basically just put you in there, no frills. I'm not even sure about a coffin, but I suppose there might be one for the service at the "thanatory". I haven't actually looked into the details since both DH and I agree--we'll be dead, we don't actually care what they do with the packaging as long as it is as waste-free as possible.

Being a Catholic country, cremation is expensive. Fashionable among the well-off for that very reason.

Cremated! I dislike the idea of rotting away slowly. Might as well get it over with quicker.

I'd like to disintegrate at an FBI body farm, but only if I could do so in my truck...listening to Rush...with the A/C on (I hate to be hot).

I want to be buried unpreserved (a green burial) and than have either a Grand Fir, or a Blue Spruce planted over me for my body to feed.
I shall be, evergreen. :P

I thought I signed up for everlasting life a few times already.

Second option is in a barrel over Niagara Falls, because sure as hell I am not doing that while I am alive.

I read this book called Stiff by Mary Roach, and it talks all about what happens to bodies after we die. So interesting. I think I'd like to donate all my organs, then they can use the rest for med schools or whatever, then I want to rest composted.

Cremation for me, ashes sprinkled at the wild and wonderful Bethells Beach on Auckland's west coast.  There is a little cemetery, just a paddock and a few trees, down the road a couple of miles from where I live, I would like a little like plaque nestled there under a tree, somewhere family and friends can go to sit with me a while.

I want my ashes mixed with cement and cast into a statue of me in some classic pose, and I'd like to be stored in a movie prop house.

That way I will still have my chance break into show business some day.
