blast these sugar cravings!!

I'm having SERIOUS sugar cravings!!!  Could I be lacking something in my diet?  I spoke to a raw-foodist and she thought that I could have a yeast problem...but I seem to only struggle with the sugar when I'm off dairy...so I don't know how the yeast thing fits in.  I don't eat more yeast than usual....

Any ideas?

The yeast issue isn't necessarily related to the yeast you ingest, but rather the yeast inside you (like a yeast infection). Dairy has quite a bit of sugars in it. So if you have a build up of yeast in your body, they're wanting food.

Sorry, I don't have any real advise except to maybe eat some really sweet fruit, like figs or something  :-\

When I crave sugar, I don't eat any non-complex carbs and it seems to work.  About five days in I get another major craving and if I don't give in, the sugar craving goes away.  I don't really know why I start craving sugar like that, but sometimes it happens.

eta:  I have two cravings I pay attention to, but it only works if I'm already off simple carbs.  If I'm craving sugar, my body wants more protein, and if I'm craving fat, I'm not eating enough in general.  And, like was mentioned, sometimes it's menstrual cycle cravings.

I find my sugar cravings to be related to my cycle. Just before TTOM I crave sweets like mad. I tend to satisfy it with dried fruits like raisins etc. or make fruit butters with a minimum of sugar.

I was super, super, SUPER addicted to sugar. I mean what a fiendish bitch I could be---definitely was my crack each day. I would forgo eating another piece of bread ever again if I could have any cake, brownies, cookies, chocolate, etc. I had to kick it with a combination of willpower that I used to quit smoking of "I'm not going to eat this refined crap ever again. If I even eat just one--I've failed." However quitting smoking was slightly less pleasant because at least with quitting refined sweets I replaced in my diet an emphasis on drinking 2 raw green smoothies each day. It took about three weeks to appreciably notice a difference in my cravings but now they're gone for good. If you're doing that already however... I am unsure what else you can do except really make a FIRM decision not to budge on action of your cravings. I never thought I could quit anything but it's shown me making a solid decision and sticking to it works. I did that with going vegan too, just over night. I think anything  you do for a few weeks becomes a habit they say right?

aaaaahhhhhhh!  You're right, I know you're right...but like you, I too am a major sugar junkie.  I have done REALLY well with it for the most part and I know it's just  matter of not letting myself.  I don't keep crap in the house and I'd never go out and buy processed junk and so it's not like I have anything to eat when the cravings hit....which is good.......but believe me I have torn the cabinets APART at times!!!

Last night when one hit I went upstairs and flossed and brushed my teeth.  That helped.  I'm going to keep trying that after dinner because it seems to be at it's worst at the end of the night.

Oh yea...and it's def. TTOM ( >:D) ......sooooooo.......yeaaaa.......

Ooo speaking of the whole minty fresh goodness. If you don't want to overbrush your teeth make sure you drink some peppermint tea (iced or hot) whenever you're usually getting your cravings. That whole mentholated mouth feel should help kill all the taste in your mouth too!
