What's something that you wish was vegan?

I was thinking about this the other day... in the past 10 years, there have been big leaps with vegan substitutes and such... I'm thinkin fake cheese (though improvement is still needed, imho -_-), all these vegan-dessert-cookbooks, vegan marshmallows and some sorta vegan meringue mix. But there are some things that aren't vegan yet, or maybe could never be the same as when we last had them.

For me, I want a vegan copy of:

- These big, soft, M&M-speckled (I could care less about the m&ms) sugar cookies they used to have at Vons. I love all the sugar cookie recipes I've made with various ingredients, but I can't get these down!

- Crepes. Yes, the Vegan Brunch ones are awesome, but eggs are so central to the taste, texture, and cooking process of these and there and I've yet to find a good imitation that would pass with French people.

I know it's not the point of veganism to mourn about things you used to eat or "can't" have, but there are some things, specific or specialty things, that there are no good imitations of (while there are a number of things I think we got *down*). How about you guys?

I wish Altoids didn't have gelatin.....or that the vegan version in the HFS wasn't so expensive.

i think the altoids minis are gelatin free.

And i totally agree with the  lucky charms/dehydrated marshmallows. Whenever i see anything with marshmallows like that i hurry to read ingredients in hopes that they will somehow be vegan.

Frickin ditto.  #1 consideration when hubby and I move: how high does the city rate in vegan friendly restaurants lol. no joke.

I looked up veg-friendly restaurants around every college I visited, and also when deciding where to move for the current school. Didn't make much of an impact this time, but I want more than cheeseless Papa John's sometimes.

Just goes to show how over saturated the North American diet is with animal products. There is like this stigma that a meal simply CANNOT be a meal without meat or cheese or eggs. You would think that any place would have at least one or two items that qualify as vegan (aside from salad), not the case. Then any place with vegetarian options are cheese, cheese and more cheese.

A nice, tall, scruffy boy would be nice.

the funny thing is, i really don't care about much dairy stuff..  it's weird to me now...  but the thing that i really really miss is:

Raspberry HONEY wheat beer!

oh and Red Stripe beer isn't vegan..  I really miss that one..

As well as honey & pb&j...  Agave is good, but not the same to me.

I wish those candy corn pumpkin things were vegan.  I found a vegan version of them the other day and instantly spat them out.  They were gross.

LOL!

True!  More guys that are confident enough to be vegan and laugh at our society's "you're not a man unless you eat meat" clichés.

Cheap, fun-size versions (for holidays and such) of the major milk chocolatey candy bars.

Go-Max versions are good, but not cheap or fun-sized.

-My boyfriend :(
-restaurants.
-my college dining hall.
-Cottage cheese :(

Oh, I also wish that restaurants which offer vegetarian or vegan fair would NOT cook my vegetarian/vegan food on the same (uncleaned) griddle they just cooked somebody's hamburger. Gross. I even bought my boyfriend his very own, meat-and-boyfriend-food-only cutting board, because even psychologically, I just don't feel comfortable eating food that was cut or prepared on a cutting board which recently had meat cut on it.

And this isn't really a vegan/vegetarian wish... but I wish the intro bio class at my school didn't do frog vivisection in lab :(

A Big Mac

A burrito supreme from Taco Bell

My two favorites!  Right now I am craving them, but I am good, eating my pumpkins seed covered tofu and cranberry dressing with baked squash, but I want a burrito supreme right now something serious!

Morningstar crumbles.  They used to be (I know that I checked them multiple times over the summer), but when I bought them yesterday they said they have eggs and milk in them.  :(  I really liked them too, and they allowed me to create a lot of vegan meals my bf loved.  I guess there's always the Boca brand ones, but they can be hard to find.  Stupid Morningstar.  Way to ruin something that wasn't broken.
